About Me

My name is Dermot. I was born and grew up in the town of Wexford on the south-east of Ireland. about meI still live in Wexford with my wife and boys.
Wexford’s a great place to live with lots to see and do. We all support our local hurling team. Hurling’s a popular sport in Ireland, a cross between rugby, hockey and lacrosse. It’s a high octane event! We also go regularly to one of our local pubs for a gat (Guinness) and the craic (good conversation and company).

My main interests are history and travelling and that makes Ireland a great place to live. This ‘Emerald Isle’ is full of places to visit, ancient sites, castles and the museums that chart Ireland’s battles for independence. This year is the centenary of the Easter Rising 1916, so it’s going to be a busy year of travelling to attend events across the island that is Ireland so that I can add articles to my blog. This isn’t just a history blog, I’ll be writing all that is good about Ireland, particularly Wexford. I’ll share my ideas for places to stay, things to do and where to go for the craic.
